SK Nanga Serau dormitory goes up in smoke

The fire burning at its height at SK Nanga Serau, Julau.

JULAU, Oct 3: A primary school dormitory housing 41 students was razed to the ground in an evening fire which broke out at SK Nanga Serau, today.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received the emergency call at 4.23pm.

Seven firefighters from Bintangor fire station were despatched to the scene.


However, it was understood that firefighters faced difficulties in reaching the school and their FRT fire engine could not pass through the extremely narrow road.

Firefighters had to hop into four-wheel-drive vehicles to get to the scene.

By the time they arrived, the dormitory had been completely destroyed.

No injuries were reported.

The school managed to contact all the parents to fetch their children, comprising 21 boys and 20 girls, back home. ā€” DayakDaily
