MIRI, April 7: The construction of a 109-metre long concrete drainage system at SJKC Chung Hua Tudan is expected to be completed by June 30 this year.

The project cost a total of RM250,000.

According to Minister of Transport Datuk Lee Kim Shin who is also the Senadin assemblyman, the project is currently 95 per cent completed and is about two months ahead of schedule.

“The project commenced on February 1 this year,” he said after visiting the site yesterday.

The project was implemented following several requests by school board members and parents, as the previous large earth drain along the stretch posed a danger to the school’s pupils and required immediate attention.

Lee revealed the upgrade of the earth drain to a covered reinforced concrete drain will allow the area to be used as a parking area for parents’ vehicles or school buses or vans.

The construction is a project under Lee’s Senadin Rural Transformation Programme for 2020 and is carried out by the Public Works Department (JKR), Miri Division.

Accompanying Lee during his visit were Assistant Divisional Engineer of Miri, Stephen Ung Neng Hui and his JKR team. — DayakDaily
