Six new Covid-19 cases recorded in Malaysia

KUCHING, Sept 6: Malaysia recorded a total of six new Covid-19 cases today, with three imported and three local transmission cases.

The Ministry of Health in a statement today revealed that the three imported cases were all non-Malaysians, from Indonesia (two cases) and Bangladesh (one case), which were reported in Kuala Lumpur.


As for the locally transmitted cases, two patients were detected from the Benteng Lahad Datu cluster in Sabah and another was a Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) case found in the Penang Hospital.

Up until today, 776 individuals in Lahad Datu and Tawau linked to the Benteng Lahad Datu cluster have been screened for the virus and 16 have tested positive from the cluster.

With this, the ministry revealed the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases nationwide stands at 9,397, with 154 active cases which are subjected to transmission.

Meanwhile, six Covid-19 cases are receiving treatment in Intensive Care Units (ICUs) with three needing respiratory assistance.

There were also two recoveries and successful discharges, bringing the overall total to 9,115 patients. — DayakDaily
