KUCHING, Nov 12: Sinovac will only be used as booster doses in circumstances where recipients have contraindications or allergies to Pfizer vaccines.

State Health (Public Health) deputy director Dr Rosemawati Ariffin thus said only the approved Pfizer vaccines are being administered as booster doses to both Pfizer or Sinovac primary dose recipients in the State, which is according to Ministry of Health (KKM)’s latest policy.

“Booster dose administration also takes into account the priority of high-risk groups and the time intervals between doses based on respective types of vaccines received previously.

“This policy is in line with current circulars and instructions regarding the implementation of booster dose administration by KKM,” she said in a statement today.

Dr Rosemawati was responding to Bukit Assek incumbent Irene Chang who on Nov 10 questioned the availability of Sinovac vaccines as booster doses in Sabah, but not in Sarawak.

As of today in Sarawak, only Pfizer vaccines are being administered as booster doses to both Pfizer and Sinovac primary dose recipients. — DayakDaily
