BAU, June 5: Night markets at Siniawan and Paku as well as the Bau Council Depot are not allowed to operate throughout the Movement Control Order (MCO) until June 14.

Bau District Council, in a notice issued on Friday, has called for the cooperation from the public especially in village areas in relation to the temporary closure of certain markets in the Bau area.

Other businesses that are not allowed to operate during MCO include market stalls at Bau farmers’ market in Bau Bus Terminal, Kampung Srieng, Duyoh, Nyaa Nyiko, Kampung Tabong, Kampung Daun, Kampung Tembawang Sauh and Kampung Stenggang.

The Council emphasised that these operations are not allowed as they fall under the negative list of the latest standard operating procedures (SOP) issued by State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

As for licensed businesses permitted, only vegetable sellers, fish stalls, kuih stalls, dry food stalls and fruit stalls are allowed to open within the building of Bau local market (pasar tamu Bau).

As for Bau Hawker Centre, Bau Community Market and Bukit Emas stalls, only retailers and sales of food and drinks are allowed for takeaway and deliveries while dine-in or park-and-dine are strictly prohibited.

For the multipurpose market, only pork and poultry stalls are allowed to open and the sales of live animals are not allowed.

The Bau District Council thus urged all sectors to comply with these restrictions in accordance with instructions issued by the SDMC.

All parties have been reminded to adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOP) issued by National Security Council (NSC) and SDMC in efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19.

The Council also advised people and businesses to practice the highest standard of cleanliness and hygiene while at public places.

The Council will not hesitate to take action against those who flouted the SOP.
