Singing competition ‘Getaran Jiwa’ which pays homage to P Ramlee, Saloma open for auditions on Aug 14

Video submissions for TVS' Getaran Jiwa singing competition will open on Aug 14.

KUCHING, Aug 12: TVS’ newest singing competition titled ‘Getaran Jiwa’ which hopes to seek out those with great voices and a classic soul is now calling for audition submissions.

Featuring Mia Hassan and Fir Affandi as its hosts, Getaran Jiwa will take viewers on a nostalgic ride into the era of captivating legendary artistes from the Malay music industry such as that of the late Tan Sri P Ramlee and Saloma.

With the aim to revive renditions composed by P Ramlee, this singing competition will showcase the timelessness and versatility of P Ramlee’s work, while paying homage to the legacy that he had left behind.


TVS chief executive Suhaimi Sulaiman emphasised that they will always provide a platform for those who are talented in the field of singing to showcase their talents.

“(Also) to collaborate with them (talents) and other productions in Sarawak to produce a successful programme by inviting as many talents to join this singing competition,” he said in a media release today.

Getaran Jiwa producer Yume Suryani added, “As P Ramlee’s famous composition goes, ‘Tak mungkin hilang irama dan lagu’, the show will not only highlight the contestants’ singing abilities but also their stage performance.”

“Through this singing competition, we are honoured to be able to celebrate the works and legacy of the late P Ramlee and Saloma.”

The competition will be judged by professional juries and an online voting system will be used whereby the audience can vote for their favourite contestant through scanning the QR code displayed on screen during the competition.

The winners of this competition will walk away with cash prizes and a trophy.

Adhering to the new norms, the audition is open to singers aged 18 and above and will be undertaken through video submission.

Video entries are to be filmed in horizontal or landscape orientation, in mp4 format with a duration of no more than five minutes and singing should be recorded using a microphone. Participants are required to only audition with the songs stated in the terms and conditions.

The songs choice for female participants are Darah Muda, Mengapa Dirindu, Hati Muda, Gelora Jiwa and Anak Rantau; while the songs choice for male participants are Engkau Laksana Bulan, Anak Dara Rindu, Aduh Sayang, Bunyi Gitar and Kwek Mambo.

Shortlisted candidates will be called for a face-to-face selection round. Entries will open on Aug 14 (Saturday) and interested individuals may email their video submissions to music@tvstv.my. — DayakDaily
