KUCHING, June 18: Local Chinese community leader Dato Sim Swee Yong passed away last night at Timberland Medical Centre here at 8.30pm at the age of 85.

Former Deputy Works Minister and former Stampin MP Datuk Yong Khoon Seng said the passing of Sim was a big loss to the Chinese community in Kuching.

“He is the founder-cum-president of The Federation of Kuching Division Community Associations.

“The reasons he formed the association was to provide a platform where help may be given to those in need.

“The main focus of the association is on social works and the maintenance of the continuity of Chinese culture,” Yong told DayakDaily.
