KUCHING, Nov 17: The Sarawak International Festival of Music and Arts (SIFMA 2.0) is taking place virtually this Sunday (Nov 21) from 5pm to 7pm.

There are 13 venues where people may gather and watch the virtual event together — Plaza Merdeka Mall, La Promenade Mall, Aeon Mall, Biddy’s Café, The Junk Mini Bazaar, Grand Margherita Hotel, The Waterfront Hotel, UCSI Hotel, Commons, Grandma Handmade Noodles Bak Kut Teh, Megalanes Sarawak, Outright Coffee Sibu and Coco Cabana Miri.

At these spaces, the festival also brings a whole range of community and local business stalls together so people can enjoy the concert to the fullest in great ambience with good food and company.

The vendors include Vera Craft, Goodness Gracious, 1006 Table, Ta Ko Boi, Fruitastic, Budak Gemok Street Burger, Kuya Bites, Pondok Bario, 20s Kitchen, Al Dente, My Sugar Bakes, Oinks, GoGeena, Pinggai, Oriental Tea, Nuromen Café, Chubbs & Chill, Bing! Coffee, Sadiqin Lim Kampua, Three Tea Ice Cream, Beats Dance & Vocal Studio, Raben Beads, Oishi Japanese Restaurant, Thumbs Malaysia, ZBee Home Made and BCS.

The public can watch and enjoy the SFIMA concert at selected venues with good food and great company.

Last week, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the festival is an event with the community in mind and seeks to benefit all that are involved and tuned into the festival from all corners of the world.

“SIFMA gives viewers the opportunity to immerse in world class entertainment while learning about different cultures and watching wholesome entertainment from the participating countries,” he said.

The festival will feature top performers in music and dance including the renowned Bolshoi Ballet dancers from Russia, award-winning conductor of the Suc Song Moi Ensemble Quang Vinh Dong, singers from the National University of Singapore (NUS), the Visayan cultural troupe from the Philippines and more.

Among the performers from Sarawak are the Sarawak Chinese Ensemble, Karya Terindah Performing Arts, Dolce Chanticleer, Zephyr, Kuching Wushu Association, IMH Ethnica Orchestra, The Sarawak State Symphony Orchestra (SONS) and La Danse studio.
Among SIFMA highlights is the ongoing forum called “Let’s Talk”, featuring inspirational stories and advice from professionals and enthusiasts within the music and arts community.

There will be a special feature screening via the SIFMA official Facebook page on Nov 20 at 7.30pm.
