KUCHING, Jan 12: Sibu with 92 new Covid-19 positive cases today, is the worst hit district in Sarawak, followed by Sebauh which registers 20 new cases.
For Sibu, out of the 92 cases, 83 of them are linked to Pasai cluster while for Sebauh, all 20 are new cases emerging from a new cluster called Bukit Sekubong cluster.
The district of Kanowit, which is near Sibu is not spared with a registration of 12 new cases today. All the 12 cases are related to Pasai cluster of Sibu.
Apart from Kanowit, the two new cases in Dalat are also linked to Pasai cluster.
The number of Covid-19 cases in Miri has slowed down today, with 11 new cases been reported. Two of the cases are linked to Bah Sayap cluster, while one case is linked to Jelita cluster. There is one case involving an individual returning from a high risk area while the remaining seven cases are detected through screening.
Both Beluru district and Kuching report three cases respectively.
For Beluru, the three cases involved close contact with a patient, while in Kuching, only one case emerged due to close contact, second case being linked to Stutong case and the third case was detected through screening.
Meanwhile, the one case in Saratok is the case of a returnee from Covid-19 high risk area. Similarly, in Bintulu, the one case reported is an individual returning from overseas while the only case in Limbang is detected due to a hospital referral. — DayakDaily
