New Covid-19 cluster in Bukit Sekubong, Sebauh identified

KUCHING, Jan 12: A new Covid-19 cluster in Sebauh has been identified by the Health Department and named as the Bukit Sekubong Cluster.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement revealed the index case, case 1,258, was identified through contact tracing of symptomatic individuals on January 8 after the patient sought treatment at the Sebauh Health Clinic.


It disclosed that until noon today (January 12), a total of 32 individuals have been screened for Covid-19.

From this, 21 positive cases have been confirmed, including the index case.

Three individuals tested negative while eight individuals are awaiting their results from the Covid-19 swab test.

With this, SDMC said, there are seven active Covid-19 clusters in Sarawak.

There are Bukit Sekubong Cluster, Jelita Cluster, Pasai Cluster, Keranji Tabuan Cluster, Bah Sayap Cluster, Stutong Cluster and the Mador Cluster.

The committee noted that the Pasai Cluster in Sibu recorded the highest increase in new cases with 111, followed by the Bah Sayap Cluster in Miri with 36, Bukit Sekubong Cluster in Sebauh (21), Jelita Cluster in Miri (7), Keranji Tabuan in Kuching (1), and Stutong Cluster in Kuching (1).

No new cases were reported from the Mador Cluster in Meradong, Sarikei. — DayakDaily
