KUCHING, Oct 4: Police have arrested a woman in her 30s for using another person’s identity card (MyKad) to claim financial aid under the MyKasih programme.

Sibu District Police Chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said the case was revealed after a woman in her 50s found that she was unable to claim the RM100 aid at a supermarket on Sept 11.

“Verification with MyKasih confirmed that the card had already been used on Sept 8 at the same premises.

“The victim suspected that her personal information had been misused and subsequently lodged a police report,” he said according to a report by TVS.

Police arrested the suspect on Sept 29, and several MyKad belonging to other individuals were seized from her.

She was taken to the Sibu Magistrate’s Court on Oct 2 for misusing another person’s MyKad, where the court imposed a RM3,000 fine for each offence after she pleaded guilty.

Zulkipli reminded the public to remain vigilant and to report immediately if their personal documents go missing.

He also urged the public to contact the National Scam Response Centre (NSRC) at 997 or visit the Semak Mule website for advice on fraud cases, while official updates can be found on @CyberCrimeAlertRMP and @JSJKPDRM. — DayakDaily
