KUCHING, Oct 17: Owners of rateable holdings within the jurisdiction of Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) are reminded to settle the second half (July to December) of this year’s assessment rates before Oct 31.
In a press statement today, SMC reminded that failing to make payment would result in a one percent surcharge per month without exception.
“This is the ruling made by the Council in accordance with the statutory provision of Part VII of Section 74(1) of the Local Authorities Ordinance, 1996,” said SMC.
For the convenience of rate payers, payment can be made at the SMC counter and duplicate copies of their assessment bill can be obtained from the council’s payment counters in the event that the original copy thereof is lost or mislaid.
The council will not entertain any claims that the bill has never been received.
The working hours of SMC payment counters are from Monday to Friday (8am to 7pm), and Saturday and Sunday (8am to 5pm) at UTC Sibu, Kaunter Agensi Kerajaan Negeri Sarawak UTC1, Sibu Central Market Multi Storey Car Park, No 2, Jalan Bengkel. — DayakDaily
