Sibu marine police seize RM168k in illegal logs

SIBU, Nov 1: Sibu Region Five Marine Police Force (PPMW5) confiscated illegal logs estimated to be worth RM168,000 at Nanga Beguang, Song.

Sibu District Police Chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said today that the seizure was made under the Forestry Ordinance 2015 in Op Landai.

“On October 30, at approximately 12.20pm, acting on public complaints related to rafting log activities, a team of officers and members from PPMW5 Sibu conducted an operation at Nanga Beguang


“They found approximately 70 logs of various types and sizes that have no sign of ownership and no official stamping from the Sarawak Forest Department,” he said.

Zulkipli explained that all the logs were suspected to have been obtained illegally.

He added that all the confiscated logs were handed over to the Kanowit Division Forestry Officer for further action. — DayakDaily
