SIBU, May 31: Police arrested a 42-year-old lorry driver for allegedly threatening his ex-wife via email.

According to Sibu district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit, the woman, 36, received an email written in Mandarin at about 2.20am on May 24 containing threatening words.

The email when translated reads as “See whether you still care or not. It’s a matter of life and death involved! This kind of people, if did not teach a lesson, don’t know how life is.”

The complainant believed the threatening email was from her ex-husband. They were divorced on January 22 earlier this year and have two children aged 13 and 14, with the woman having custody.

Fearing for her safety, the woman lodged a police report.

Stanley revealed that following an investigation, the man confessed to sending the email.

The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation. — DayakDaily
