SIBU, April 21: Sibu Rural District Council is closing the Sibu Jaya library temporarily today until further notice.
Council chairman Sempurai Petrus Ngelai said in a statement the decision was made after a library staff tested positive for Covid-19 following exposure to a confirmed case.
“In view of this, the council will temporarily close the Public Library at Sibu Jaya with immediate effect from today until further notice,” he said.
He urged all council staff who might have been in contact with the said staff member to take a PCR tests today.
“SRDC will commence sanitisation of the library today. Members of public with business transactions with the council must comply strictly with SOPs (standard operating procedures),” he advised.
Sempurai also sought the public’s understanding and cooperation for the sake of safety and wellbeing of the general public and council staff. — DayakDaily
