SIBU, July 10, 2026: The Sibu edition of the Sarawakku Sayang (SKS) Programme has set a target of over 30,000 visitors to the three-day event.
According to Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Sibu’s position as the main hub in central Sarawak is expected to attract visitors not only from the town itself but also from Kapit, Sarikei, Mukah, Kanowit, and Bintulu.
“The response to the SKS programme has continued to grow from one location to another. This shows that the government’s efforts to bring government agencies closer to the people, especially those in rural communities, have been well received.
“Various service and information counters are provided to help the public obtain information on government assistance, applications and services,” he said after officiating at the soft launch of the Sarawakku Sayang Programme at Dataran Tun Tuanku Haji Bujang here today, as reported by TVS.
SKS Sibu, which started today, is expected to run until Sunday (July 12).
Previously, the Kapit edition of the SKS programme recorded an encouraging turnout of more than 38,607 visitors over its three-day run, demonstrating the programme’s effectiveness in serving as a one-stop platform that connects the public directly with various government agencies, while enabling communities to access government services without having to travel long distances.
Commenting further, Mohamad Abu Bakar said the SKS programme is also strengthening the use of digital platforms to make it easier for the public to access information on government services.
However, he stressed that face-to-face interaction (human-to-human touch) will continue to be maintained to ensure the public receives clearer explanations and more effective assistance from the relevant agencies.
“Although digital transformation is being enhanced, direct interaction remains important to ensure the public receives accurate and comprehensive information about the services provided,” he added. — DayakDaily
