SARIKEI, Aug 4: The E-Contest, featuring 82 lucky draw prizes including a 20-gramme gold bar valued at approximately RM15,000, is expected to be one of the key highlights of the Sarawakku Sayang (SKS) 2026 Programme for the Sarikei Division, scheduled to take place from Aug 7 to 9.
Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh said visitors only need to register through a QR code and answer several questions based on information showcased by participating government departments and agencies to qualify for the lucky draw.
“Apart from the grand prize of a gold bar, participants will also stand a chance to win prizes including a 60-inch television, motorcycles, and a two-night holiday package to Jakarta,” he said as reported by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas).
Len Talif highlighted this during his appearance as a guest on the Juh Randau programme produced by the Ukas at the UKAS Studio today.
Len Talif, who is also Kuala Rajang assemblyman, said the QR Code E-Contest was designed not only to create greater engagement among visitors but also to encourage the public to directly discover information on the various policies, initiatives and assistance programmes offered by the Sarawak government.
He added that the Sarawakku Sayang Programme remains an important platform for strengthening ties between leaders and the people through a more accessible, interactive and effective approach to information sharing.
“SKS serves as a platform for leaders to engage directly with the people, share information on government policies and assistance programmes, and go to the ground to better understand the challenges faced by communities so that appropriate follow-up actions can be taken,” he said.
Len Talif also noted that the programme provides an avenue for the Premier of Sarawak to directly communicate the State’s development priorities and future direction to the people.
On preparations for SKS 2026 Sarikei Division, he said the programme, coordinated by the Sarikei Divisional Resident’s Office, has reached 95 per cent readiness, with all participating agencies prepared for the event.
“All preparations and agencies involved are currently at 95 per cent readiness. We are now fine-tuning the remaining details to ensure the programme runs smoothly, with the previous five editions serving as our benchmark,” he said.
The three-day programme will feature a wide range of activities, including a community dinner, Konsert Rakyat, a brisk walk with the Premier of Sarawak, government agency exhibitions, and various community engagement programmes.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to learn more about Sarawak government initiatives, including free higher education opportunities and assistance programmes provided by relevant agencies.
SKS 2026 Sarikei Division is expected to attract between 30,000 and 50,000 visitors, further enhancing government outreach efforts, promoting local tourism and gastronomy products, and encouraging greater community participation through interactive activities. — DayakDaily
