SIBU, Oct 5: The Sibu Digital Innovation Hub (DIH) in Kampung Nangka here will be the first DIH in Sarawak to offer digital equipment rental services.
Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) chief executive officer (CEO) Sudarnoto Osman said the equipment for rent included high-powered computers, cameras and the latest audio apparatuses.
“This service is expected to be a catalyst to increase productivity and quality of work by creative digital and programming practitioners in Sibu in the aspects of graphic design, application production and so on,” he said.
He added that Sibu DIH provides the same facilities as the other DIHs in Sarawak, including event spaces, co-working spaces and private offices for start-up companies.
“Sibu DIH also organises various programmes with themes centered around innovation, digital enterprise and self-improvement in the field of digital technology,” he said during the Sibu DIH launching ceremony today.
Meanwhile, Sudarnoto also introduced SDEC’s first public cloud package, which is a computing service based in Sarawak where user data is maintained in Sarawak and data sovereignty is preserved.
He said this cloud package is in line with the Sarawak Digital Economy Strategy to encourage digitization in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and to help various businesses towards digitalisation.
The Sibu DIH launching ceremony was officiated by the Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, and attended by Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Dr Annuar Rapaee, Sarawak State Secretary Dato Sri Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) general manager Dr Zaidi Razak. — DayakDaily
