SIBU, Sept 11: Two stalls at the Sibu Central Market are ready to host the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (YDPA), Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, and Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah for breakfast tomorrow.
The owner of Suraya Café and Farid Iskandar Café felt blessed to be serving their local dishes to the royal couple.
Both stalls are located next to each other at the market.
Preparing food for royalty is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, especially in Sarawak which does not have a royal family.
Suraya Café owner Sabtuyah Omar when met today expressed excitement as the time for Their Majesties’ visit draws closers.
“I feel grateful and excited because His Majesty will be coming to my stall for breakfast. Never in my life did I think that I will be visited by such high profile individuals like the King and Queen,” she said.
Sabtuyah shared that she will be serving a variety of popular Sibu dishes.
“We will be preparing various special dishes such as pulut panggang (grilled glutinous rice), kompia (stuffed bun), penyaram (a type of savory kueh), and mi kampua (a local dry noodle dish),” she said.
Owner of beverage stall Sabtuyah’s, Jenny Lee, is equally excited even though Their Majesties won’t be dining at her stall.
“I am very happy and excited about His Majesty’s arrival. This is the first time he is coming here, and it’s something new for me.
“We have made various preparations, including decorating our stall with flags and lights, and ensuring that our shop is clean when His Majesty and Her Majesty come here,” she said.
