LUNDU, March 27: Farmers in the Sibaukng area of Kampung Tebaro will benefit from agricultural infrastructure facilities in the area, which will help strengthen Sarawak’s agricultural sector.
This was said by Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang at the ‘Program Jom Menuai’ organised by the Kampung Tebaro-Jampari management committee on Friday (March 25), according to a news report by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas).
Aside from that, he explained, the results of the technical visit and inspection at the paddy field on March 16 revealed that it has the potential to become a systematic and orderly paddy field like the Tanjung Purun DID (Drainage and Irrigation Department) Paddy Scheme.
He went on to say that the paddy field area, which includes farmers from six surrounding villages, needs road access and a more systematic drainage system for farmers’ convenience.
Meanwhile, political secretary to the Premier of Sarawak and chairman of the Kampung Tebaro-Jampari management committee Niponi Undek urged farmers to work together to ensure the smooth implementation of development projects.
He added that it would be possible to ensure food security in Sarawak with the development of this agricultural area. — DayakDaily
