SFC Miri arrests man for possession of protected wildlife in Ulu Baram

KUCHING, Aug 10: A 52-year-old man was arrested in Ulu Baram for keeping protected animals, protected wildlife body parts and a shotgun with nine rounds of ammunition last Sunday (Aug 8).

Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC), in a statement posted on its social media page today, revealed that an enforcement team from its Miri branch together with two officers from the General Operation Force (GOF) Sarawak Battalion 12 had acted based on information obtained.

“The team conducted an enforcement operation in two locations at Ulu Baram.

“Through the operation, a 52-year-old man was arrested on violations for keeping a number of wildlife, a number of wildlife body parts and a shotgun with nine rounds of ammunition,” SFC said.

Following the discovery, two separate police reports have been lodged at Beluru Police Station.

All items have also been seized and handed over to the Beluru Police Station, while the offender arrested under the Firearms Act, 1960 was handed over to the SFC investigating officer for further action. — DayakDaily
