KUCHING, April 16: Several areas in Sarawak have been issued a thunderstorm warning that will be valid until 9pm tonight (April 16).
According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia), the affected areas are:
- Kuching (Bau and Kuching)
- Sri Aman (Sri Aman)
- Betong (Pusa, Betong, and Saratok)
- Sarikei (Pakan and Julau)
- Sibu (Sibu and Selangau)
- Miri (Telang Usan and Marudi)
A warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with rain intensity exceeding 20 mm/hour that is close to or expected to occur for more than an hour.
A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single issue.
