KUCHING, June 5: Serian District Police headquarter (IPD Serian) is doubling its monitoring to ensure the public adheres to the Movement Control Order (MCO) standard operating procedures (SOPs) in the district.
According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, a total of three roadblock (SJR) have also been deployed in the district, namely in Kampung Rituh, KM 40, along Kuching-Serian road, Kampung Saan, and along KM6, Gedong-Serian road to ensure that the three person limit per vehicle and inter-district travel SOPs are complied with.
The roadblocks are jointly enforced together with the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) and People’s Volunteer Corps personnel.
Serian police chief DSP Aswandy Anis, when contacted on Friday, said the police would not hesitate to issue compounds to any individual who are found to be flouting the SOPs.
“So far, five individuals have been compounded, and I also would like to seek the cooperation of local residents living near the border to inform their nearest police station of any illegal cross border activities involving illegal immigrants (PATI) into the country to curb the spread of Covid-19 among them, which is still serious,” he said.
Apart from that, Aswandy noted, IPD Serian also focused on the SOP’s compliance among the traders, supermarket’s customers, including businesses premises that are allowed to operate during this MCO.
“Patrolling and monitoring are also being carried out in the villages around the clock,” he added. — DayakDaily
