Serian community told not to be gullible to fake news

Brolin Nicholsion

KUCHING, Nov 3: Did you ever receive news in social media about a group disguising themselves as civil servants going from house to house to distribute face masks with “knock-out” chemicals prior to robbing the residents? It could be fake.

If anyone did come across such information, Democratic Action Party (DAP) Serian chairman Brolin Nicholsion advises them to lodge police reports immediately.

He also advised the people not to be easily deceived by false news which facts were questionable and could not be easily verified.

“We urge people to be extra cautious and think more critically about what we read to ensure its authenticity,” he raised this in a statement today after noticing news viral in social media about a group of robbers, who disguised themselves as civil servants in the pretext of distributing face masks.

However, Brolin cautioned the public to always be extra careful when approached by strangers or unknown persons.

“Make sure that you know that person and can contact them in case something untoward happened.

“DAP Serian has been distributing face masks from house to house because we know there are families without transport to make purchases in the market and using congested ‘van sapu’ is not an option,” he explained.

Brolin hoped such small efforts can help to reduce the burden of the people while ensuring every family has sufficient supply of face masks to protect themselves in facing the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The people in Serian can contact DAP Serian directly if they need any assistance. Let’s work together to cut off the chain of Covid-19 infections,” he stressed. ā€” DayakDaily
