KUCHING, Jan 30: Senator Abun Sui Anyit hopes the Federal and Sarawak governments will announce direct aid to flood victims in Sarawak to help them recover from the losses and damage caused by the disaster.
In a statement today, Abun, who is also the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Hulu Rajang branch chief, this Chinese New Year is bittersweet for Sarawak, marked by the tragic Miri landslide and widespread flooding across Sarawak.
“I hope the Federal government and the Sarawak government will announce direct aid to the flood victims to alleviate their burden due to the damage caused by this flood in Sarawak, especially in Bintulu.
“I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to all parties who were able to come and help the flood victims,” he said.
Abun, whose family also resides in Bintulu, was personally affected by the flood, describing it as one of the most severe and extraordinary floods they have ever experienced.
He further expressed his appreciation to the Fire and Rescue Department, Civil Defence Force, volunteers, and all who have stepped up to lend a helping hand to the victims of the flood and landslide disasters here in Sarawak. – DayakDaily
