SELANGAU, July 26: With the 15th General Election (GE15) just around the corner, voters in Selangau will have the opportunity to choose a new elected representative following the failure of its incumbent MP Baru Bian to bring about development to the area, said Senator Dato Dr Nuing Jeluing.
In a news report by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), Dr Nuing said voters need to think rationally this time, instead of following their feelings.
“We have experienced what happened these four years when we made the wrong choice. The candidate we chose cannot help and bring development to this area,” he said.
Dr Nuing added that the elected representative for Selangau has not been on the ground in a long time and has never offered to lend his services to the people in the area.
Therefore, he urged the people in the Selangau parliamentary constituency to support Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) candidate in GE15.
He said this while attending a handing over ceremony of minor rural project (MRP) grants and food baskets at Rumah Lukok, Sungai Bawang, Selangau on Saturday (July 23).
RM129,000 in MRP grants were handed over to 11 village development and security committees (JKKKs) and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
Meanwhile, 74 food baskets were distributed to residents of Rumah Nibang, Rumah Janting, Rumah Chalie and Rumah Nuari. — DayakDaily
