Senadin assemblyman: Young people urged to donate blood

MIRI, Feb 13: Transport Minister cum Minister in Charge of Miri Divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin is encouraging more young people to donate blood and help boost the supply at Miri Hospital Blood Bank.

“Some of our regular blood donors are in their 60s, which is why we encourage young people to come forward and take part in blood donation drives to ensure adequate blood supply,” he said today.

Lee said this after visiting the Valentine’s Day Blood Donation Drive at the Malaysian Red Crescent Training Institute Miri Chapter at Jalan Bulan Sabit.

“Although there isn’t an age limit when it comes to donating blood, we are concerned about the wellbeing of our older donors,” said the Senadin assemblyman.

The event was held by the Miri Branch (MRC) Blood Donor Recruitment Committee in collaboration with the Moving Communities Team and Miri Indian Association.
