KUCHING, Nov 7: SEDC Energy Sdn Bhd signed a Heads of Agreement (HoA) with Petronas Technology Ventures Sdn Bhd (PTVSB) to establish an assembly plant for the production of Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) Electrolyser (H2PEM) for hydrogen production in Sarawak.

The HoA was signed at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) 2022 on Nov 2.

The production of H2PEM will support the growing demand for PEM electrolysers worldwide and explore other green hydrogen technology deployment in Sarawak and other regions.

“The HOA also included the collaboration with PTVSB to supply hydrogen production systems to the Rembus Hydrogen Plant and Re-fuelling Depot catered to supply hydrogen to the upcoming public transportation system, Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) by SEDC’s Sarawak Metro which will be driven by hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

“By venturing into the assembly and manufacture of electrolysers, Sarawak will again take an active role in the hydrogen value chain and contribute to the economic growth of its people whilst ensuring we are on the right track to reduce the effects of climate change,” SEDC Energy said in a statement today.

It further said Sarawak is blessed in many aspects, especially in abundant natural resources, including water.

“With affordable hydroelectric power, it has allowed us to explore green hydrogen production as well as expansion into other hydrogen-related technologies throughout the value chain, which supports our Green Energy Agenda,” it added. — DayakDaily
