KUCHING, March 3: Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Husain is reported to have remarried.
The 73-year-old has tied the knot with Puan Sri Datin Amar Nur Ashima Aziz.
According to several sources, a wedding reception was held at Damai Lagoon Resort earlier tonight.
Yang di-Pertua Sarawak Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib graced the wedding.
Also present were Deputy Premier of Sarawak Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian and wife Datin Sri Enn Ong; Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and wife Datin Sri Zuraini Abdul Jabbar; Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah and spouse Datu Dr Adi Badiozaman Tuah who is a social activist and the director of the Sarawak Islamic Council of Educational Services Bureau.
This is Abdul Azizās second marriage after his first wife, the late Puan Sri Datin Amar Fredahanam Mahmud, passed away on Jan 22 last year.
Fredahanam is also the younger sister of Taib.
In his previous marriage, Abdul Aziz was blessed with five children and three grandchildren.
For the record, Abdul Aziz has served in the Sarawak government in various capacities since 1973 with the last appointment being that of the Sarawak State Secretary in August 2000 until his retirement in December 2006.
Apart from being SEDC chairman, he is also the non-independent and chairman of Eksons Corporation Berhad, chairman of Sarawak Skill Development Centre (SSDC), first chairman and incumbent council member of Swinburne Sarawak, president of Sarawak Association For The Welfare of Intellectually Disabled Children (Perkata), president of Sarawak Badminton Association (SBA), president of Harakah Islamiah (Hikmah), and honorary secretary of Sarawak Mosque Welfare Trust Board (LAKMNS). ā DayakDaily
