Security guard fined RM1,000 for lodging false police report after sleeping while on duty

KUCHING, Nov 16: The Magistrate’s Court here has fined a security guard RM1,000 for lodging false police report.

Meytius Lawrence, 25, from Bintangor pleaded guilty to the charge framed under Section 182 of the Penal Code.

Magistrate Zaiton Anuar accepted his plea and fined him RM1,000 or in default 10-days imprisonment.

Meytius was found guilty of lodging a false police report on purpose at Kuching Police District Headquarters (IPD), at about 11.40am on Nov 12, 2021.

According to the brief facts of the case, in the accused’s police report, his bag which contained a smartphone and cash money of RM90 was allegedly stolen by two men at his workplace, located at Jalan Setia Raja.

Upon further investigation, it was found that the accused had made a false police report to hide the fact from his employer that he was sleeping while on duty.

Prosecuting Officer Inspector Merylene Lindan Andrew Mang prosecuted while the accused was unrepresented by counsel. — DayakDaily
