SIBU, March 21: There was relief all around as the second day of the active case detection (ACD) exercise for the Kampung Hilir Cluster yielded zero positive cases.
On March 19, 643 residents of Kampung Hilir, Bandong, Abang Barieng and Pa’Dris had their swab tests.
The day before on March 18, there were six positive cases detected via ACD involving 977 people.
Sibu Divisional Disaster Management Committee coordinator, Dr Annuar Rapaee in revealing this during his daily Covid-19 update via a Facebook livestream today said he had obtained the results for the third and last day of the ACD which was held on March 20 but he needed to verify them before making them public.
A total of 305 residents were involved in the third ACD exercise.
“I am happy with the result of this second ACD. The positivity rate for the two ACD at 0.4 per cent shows that the virus did not spread widely. God willing, we may be able to control the disease,” he said.
The Nangka assemblyman said no more ACD exercises would be carried out for this cluster.
On the 68 cases reported today, he said 37 of them were in Sibu Municipal Council areas, 13 in Sibu Rural District Council areas and 18 under Sibu Jaya.
“Of the 68 cases, 23 of them are from three of the four quarantine centres. These are people who had close contact with positive cases who were found positive after the second swab test,” he added.
Eighteen of the cases were from Quarantine Centre 1 where the cases were from Sibu Jaya Flat Block R, Jalan Pedada, Lorong Rantau Panjang 5A2A and 5A2J, Rumah Minggu, Rumah Simon (one case each), Lorong Sibu Jaya 18A (2) and 20A (4), including Rumah Anthony (3).
Quarantine Centre 2 had two cases of one each in Sibu Jaya Flat Block J and Lorong Rhu 6 while there were three cases in Quarantine Centre 3 from Jalan Permai (1) and Lorong Kristal 8 (2). — DayakDaily
