Sebuyau teen’s dream to study engineering comes true

KUCHING, Aug 22: An 18-year-old teenager from Sebuyau with dreams of becoming an engineer has been accepted as a student at Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP).

According to a news report from TV Sarawak (TVS) yesterday (Aug 21), Izzan Nasaruddin Stanley, who scored 9As in last year’s Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination, said he would make the most of the opportunity.

At the same time, the former Sekolah Menengah Sains Kuching Utara student also thanked all parties, including the Sarawak government, for helping to ease the studying costs.

Izzan also said he applied for assistance from the State and parliamentary elected representatives’ offices.

When I was informed that my application was accepted, I was very grateful. Thank you to Datuk Julaihi Narawi, who is the assemblyman in my area,” he said when met after the handing over of studying assistance held in Sebuyau recently.

Izzan is one of the 10 students from Sebuyau who scored excellent results in last year’s SPM and STPM (Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia) examinations. — DayakDaily
