“I urge everyone to take it (the vaccine) as soon as possible in order to protect our community from Covid-19,” he opined.

Nevertheless, he added, the public should not forget to follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) even though they already received the vaccine.

“The vaccine will protect us from a serious illness, and will also help us all to get back to the things we used to do,” he said when met on Saturday.

The rollout of the Covid-19 vaccine via the National Covid-19 Immunisation Plan (NIP) has been seen as the light at the end of the tunnel for the tourism industry, after more than a year of lockdowns and restricted travel, Ting said that it will be likely that the federal government to create ‘vaccine passport’ or ‘vaccine certificate’ to those who have received their vaccination.

“This would be a new requirement when you travel at the border like we used to do in the old days…..” he said.

Ting recalled when he was a child, whenever they went to Brunei and at the border, they were requested to bring their vaccination certificate.

During that period of time, those have vaccination certificate was allowed to cross the border. -DayakDaily
