Search underway for missing hunter in Baram

BARAM, Jan 28: A search and rescue (SAR) operation was launched today to locate Randy Laing Alexander Anyie, a 40-year-old hunter who has been missing since Saturday (Jan 25) in Kampung Sungai Dua, Long Lama.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), Randy left his house around 8pm on Jan 25 to go hunting but did not inform his family of his destination. He has not returned home since, raising concerns among his family.

Family members searched areas where Randy frequently hunts and found his motorcycle abandoned at a junction near Batu 5 on the Kejin Camp road. However, their search yielded no further clues.

The Marudi Fire and Rescue Station (BBP Marudi) received a report about Randy’s disappearance at 8.39pm last night (Jan 27).

A team led by Ramzai Talip was deployed to gather information at the Marudi Police Station before heading to the search area, located approximately three hours away by road.

Authorities continue their efforts to locate Randy, but as of now, he remains missing. – DayakDaily
