Search continues for missing villager in Engkilili

Kanyan Bakar from Rh Lampas, Titok Ulu Atas in Engkilili has been reported missing since Sept 27, 2019.

LUBOK ANTU, Oct 1: Rescuers are on the lookout for a villager who failed to return home after entering his family’s palm oil plantation near Rh Lampas, Titok Ulu Atas in Engkilili on Sept 29.

The 34-year-old, identified as Kanyan Bakar, was last seen leaving his house at 2pm.

His father Bakar Mangka, 60, said Kanyan was wearing a t-shirt and short pants but he was unable to recall the garments’ colour.


After three days of Kanyan going missing and the villagers failing to find him, Bakar lodged a police report at 2.49pm today.

Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) personnel from Betong firestation led by Henry Jugah were dispatched to Rh Lampas and a search and rescue operation (SAR) was immediately launched.

Apart from Bomba personnel, the police and local villagers have also joined in the search.

There were no signs of the missing villager as of press time. — DayakDaily
