SDMC to convene special Covid-19 meeting tomorrow

KUCHING, July 25: The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) will convene a special meeting here tomorrow to discuss the latest development pertaining to the Covid-19 pandemic in Kuching district.

Its chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said that the district here had been experiencing spikes in positive cases lately.


“Today we have eight (8) positive cases and yesterday was nine (9). Tomorrow’s meeting will be a special one to determine on these measures,” he said in a statement today.

Uggah noted that whatever measures deliberated and determined (in the meeting) would be conveyed to Kuala Lumpur and the Health Ministry.

“We want them to act on it (outcome) so that we can enforce or implement them as soon as possible,” he said, adding that, among the issues to be discussed would be a possible travel ban.

SDMC advisors Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian, who is also Minister for Housing and Local Government, and Minister of Public Utilities Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi are expected to attend the meeting besides state Health Department director Dr Chin Zin Hing and his team of medical experts. –DayakDaily.
