KUCHING, April 20: The public has been invited to submit their heart-warming stories that amplify the spirit of unity, unique bonding and relationship during the Covid-19 outbreak in Sarawak.
Such exemplary stories will be collected under the Sarawak’s Pride Project, which was started in 2019 by Yayasan Perpaduan Sarawak (YPS) and Sarawak Development Institute (SDI).
“In this trying time, many heroic and solidarity stories have emerged and are shared by people across the world and such heart-warming stories are also abundant in Sarawak, as people come together in solidarity to help out those in need,” SDI said in a statement.
The project has currently collected about 700 stories throughout Sarawak with the incredible support from members of the public, it added.
“The meaningful project is only possible with the support and submissions of members of the public especially from journalists, writers and frontliners from all fraternities, as they are the ones with the insights to the happenings within the community.
“Sarawakians and non-Sarawakians alike are welcomed to send in multiple submissions, so long as the stories are related to an actual experience of unity in Sarawak,” the statement continued.
The project aimed to collect 1000 unity stories within Sarawak for a place in the Malaysia Book of Records and will serve as a recognition for Sarawak’s unity and solidarity in Malaysian history.
The short story submissions can be in English or Bahasa Melayu, ranging from 50 to 200 words, and members of the public may submit their short stories on unity via e-mail to sarawakpride@gmail.com.
Submission can also be done through online form on the website of Yayasan Perpaduan Sarawak at www.yps.org.my/sarawakpride, or by sending a submission to the SDI WhatsApp number at 013-6718063.
Submissions between August 2019 and May 2020 will be in the selection for best stories by a panel of jury to win some attractive goodies for the best stories submitted, such as one unit of Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2, one unit of Apple Watch Series 3, one unit of FitBit Inspire, and many more.
