KUCHING, July 31: The Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) and the Ministry of International Trade, Industry, and Investment Sarawak (MINTRED) have officially launched the Sarawak Digital Mall campaign on the TikTok Shop and the GoDigital Sarawak 2024 initiative.
According to a press release, the Sarawak Digital Mall initiative, a collaborative effort between SDEC, MINTRED, and TikTok Shop, aims to enhance e-commerce adoption and sales performance among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Sarawak.
“Through this initiative, SDEC and TikTok Shop have delivered e-commerce training and seller incubation programmes to more than 1,000 entrepreneurs in Kuching, Miri, Sibu, Serian, Sri Aman, and Kapit since June 2023,” as stated in the release.
The launch took place on July 27 at the Showcase Usahawan Sarawak (SUS) 2024 event at Bintang Megamall in Miri, which was graced by Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, SDEC chief executive officer (CEO) Sudarnoto Osman, and TikTok Shop Malaysia partnership manager Nur Azre.
“In 2023, with solid support from MINTRED, these trained sellers were given promotional incentives and seller missions to boost the visibility of their products in the TikTok Shop app, resulting in a 118 per cent increase in orders and an 86 per cent increase in Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) compared to before the start of this programme.
“The Sarawak Digital Mall campaign on Tiktok Shop commenced in July 2024 and will end in Dec 2025.”
“This digital campaign will highlight Sarawak products and all participating Sarawakian sellers in the app to boost their visibility and attract more customers from the platform’s existing user base.
