BINTULU, Nov 24: Scientists from Italy have expressed their intention to study Sarawak’s Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, says Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
He said he was informed of this when the foreign scientists visited him yesterday (Nov 23).
“I did not expect that scientists from Italy would want to learn from us.
“This is because we have shared with them on our development for the past five years; the construction of road connectivity including the Bintulu-Jepak cable-stayed bridge which resembles the iconic San Francisco bridge,” he said during the ‘Majlis Tautan Kasih Gedong Permulaan Kami (GPK) 2024’ which was streamed by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) on Facebook last night (Nov 23).
Abang Johari who is also the Gedong assemblyman further said that the Sarawak government during a State Cabinet meeting on Thursday (Nov 21) has approved the construction of a dual carriageway from the Bintulu-Jepak bridge up to the Bintulu Airport.
“This means Jepak is no longer a village.
“We are also building houses which will be done in phases. This is to ensure the area is organised,” he added.
On July 21, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas revealed that the Bintulu-Jepak Bridge, which spans the Kemena River, is expected to be completed by February next year. — DayakDaily
