KUCHING, July 17: All schools will be reopen for physical classes in stages starting Sept 1, while home-based teaching and learning (PdPR) is scheduled to continue until Aug 31.
The Ministry of Education (MOE) announced this after taking the current Covid-19 pandemic situation into account and the rate of vaccination nationwide.
“Considering the current pandemic situation and following a discussion with the National Security Council (NSC), MOE wishes to inform that PdPR is to be continued until Aug 31.
“This applies to all government schools, government-aided schools, private schools and educational institutions registered under MOE,” it said in a statement today.
On the reopening of schools, the ministry said it will constantly refer to risk assessments by the Ministry of Health (MOH) and NSC, to decide whether there is a need to make changes to the decided dates.
However, it assured that any changes will be communicated to parents and teachers at least one week earlier before schools are to reopen in order for them to make the necessary preparations.
Meanwhile, MOE said 253,366 teachers, administrators and 10,876 support staff employees have received at least their first doses of vaccines as of July 16. — DayakDaily
