Bedup Longgo Cluster appears in Serian with 1 death, 42 Covid-19 cases

KUCHING, July 17: One death was reported involving the new Bedup Longgo Cluster in Serian, while a total of 42 individuals have tested found positive for Covid-19.

According to the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), the community cluster was identified at Kampung Bedup Longgo.

“A total of 93 individuals have been screened, where 24 individuals tested positive for Covid-19, including the index case.


“One death was also reported from the cluster today, together with an additional 18 new positive cases,” the committee said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, SDMC also announced the end of five clusters in Sarikei (two), Meradong (two) and Sibu (one), after zero new cases were reported in the past 28-days.

The five clusters are Sungai Selangan Cluster and Sungai Sentebu Cluster in Sarikei, Skim B Cluster and Sungai Bunun Cluster in Meradong, including Sungai Durin Clusters in Sibu.

As of today, nine clusters throughout the state saw an additional 58 new positive cases.

The nine clusters are Bedup Longgo Cluster (18), Duyoh Cluster (13), Sentosa Cluster (11), Kendaie Cluster (10), Tembok Miri Cluster (two), and one new case each for Industri 121 Kuala Baram Cluster, Pasar Basah Mukah Cluster, Jalan Teo Kui Ngo Cluster, and Lempaong Cluster. — DayakDaily
