KUCHING, Jan 29: Satok assemblyman Dato Ibrahim Baki has today conducted a meet and greet program with local Chinese community in Satok constituency in conjunction with the Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration.

Speaking to reporters after the walkabout, Ibrahim said it is a norm for Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) representatives to meet up with the constituents on the ground, especially during festive seasons.

“For Satok constituency, the population here is multiracial and more than 20 per cent of them are Chinese.

“As such, we want to foster the spirits of unity among the population here so that everyone continue to live in harmonies. We also would like to wish all our Chinese friends a happy CNY celebration and good luck,” he said.

On another note, Ibrahim also conveyed his condolence to former governor of Sarawak, the late Tun Pehin Sri Datuk Patinggi Abang Muhammad Salahuddin, who passed away yesterday due to natural causes.

He said the late Salahuddin has contributed a lot to Sarawak and has become the governor for Sarawak two times (1977-1981, 2001-2014).

“Under his governorship, the people of Sarawak are living in a peaceful and harmonies environment,” he added. — DayakDaily
