SARIKEI, July 17: Water supply around Sarikei is currently being gradually restored, especially in areas on higher ground and near the endpoints of the pipe network, as the Bayong Water Treatment Plant has resumed normal operations.

In a notice posted on its social media late last night (July 16), Sarawak Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) however reported that the contractor is still working to complete the earth wall as a temporary solution for the rubber dam, which was damaged three days ago.

An additional excavator was deployed, increasing the number of machinery to four, to expedite the construction work as of 7pm last night.

JBALB also informed that the delivery of water using tanker trucks will continue today to affected areas, particularly public premises, until the situation has been fully rectified.

The department apologised for any inconvenience experienced by consumers throughout the water supply disruption period.

Communities can keep up with the latest update through the official JBALB Sarawak Facebook page and contact JBALB Sarawak Call Centre at 082-262211 for any complaints and inquiries. — DayakDaily
