SARIKEI, July 1: A traditional medicine shop at Jalan Repok was partially destroyed in a fire this morning.
According to the state Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre, Bomba received an alert about the incident at 2.04am before deploying a team of firefighters from the Sarikei fire station to the scene.
“The operations commander Mahmudin Naruddin reported that the fire was at the back on the ground floor of the three-storey building.
“The fire had damaged about 40 per cent of the ground floor and did not affect other parts of the premises. No injuries were reported during the incident,” the Bomba statement read.
The fire was brought under control at 2.46am but firefighters remained at the scene conducting overhaul work to ensure that the flames were completely extinguished.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. — DayakDaily
