KUCHING, July 10: Sarawak reported 352 new Covid-19 cases today with Sarikei District topping the list of daily infections at 65 cases due to the new Sungai Setajam Cluster, which was linked to a longhouse.
There were no deaths from Covid-19 reported in the last 24 hours. The State’s tally of positive cases now stands at 68,599 while the death toll remains unchanged at 431.
The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in its daily updates on Covid-19 situation in Sarawak, reported that Kuching recorded the second highest number of daily infections with 64 cases.
Another 19 districts that saw an increase in new cases were Saratok (29), Lubok Antu and Sibu (19 each), Meradong (18), Telang Usan (17), Mukah, Serian and Sri Aman (16 each), Subis (15), Bintulu and Miri (13 each), Tatau (9), Bau (6), Samarahan (5), Kapit and Tebedu (3 each), Lundu (2), while Asajaya, Pusa, Sebauh and Selangau has one each.
Of 362 cases, SDMC disclosed that 48 cases were asymptomatic while 160 cases were contacts of positive cases.
In addition, 133 cases were linked to active clusters while 38 cases were detected from asymptomatic screening and 20 cases from other screenings.
There was one imported case involving a returnee from Kuala Lumpur.
Sarawak also recorded 386 recoveries, thus increasing the total number of recovered cases in Sarawak to 58,401 or 85.13 per cent of total positive cases so far.
There are still 9,558 active cases being isolated and receiving treatments in hospitals and Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centres throughout Sarawak. — DayakDaily
