Sarikei District Council wins second place for Stray Animal Management in federal ministry’s campaign

KUCHING, Oct 10: Sarikei District Council has won second place in the Local Authority Awards under the Environmental Health Campaign organised by the federal Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) in conjunction with the 2024 World Environmental Health Day.

According to a Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) news report, the award, specifically in the ‘Stray Animal Management’ category, was announced during a ceremony held at Bangi Avenue Convention Centre, Selangor on Oct 8.

The campaign is part of a larger initiative by KPKT, which encompasses seven categories: Clean Food Premises; Clean Public Markets; Bersih (clean), Menawan (attractive), Wangi (pleasant smelling) Public Toilets; Rat Infestation Prevention; Stray Animal Management; Dengue Outbreak Prevention; and Dengue Hotspot Eradication.

Sarikei District Council secretary Sait Enggang expressed his gratitude to all parties who contributed to the success, especially Tanjong Manis MP Yusuf Abdul Wahab.

He stated that the recognition serves as a testament to the council’s continuous efforts to promote better environmental health for the wellbeing of the local community.

Sait was present to receive the certificate and plaque, which were presented by Deputy Minister of Housing and Local Government, Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu. — DayakDaily
