KUCHING, March 30: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Youth Central secretary-general Nicholas Toh has strongly criticised Democratic Action Party Socialist Youth (DAPSY) Sarawak’s approach, arguing that Sarawak’s rights should be pursued through strong political will and legislative action, not symbolic public gestures.

“If they were truly committed to fighting for Sarawak’s rights, why haven’t their leaders consistently championed this issue in Parliament?” he questioned.

“Real change requires legislative backing, not just media statements.”

He emphasised that Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) has been at the forefront of securing Sarawak’s autonomy over its oil and gas resources, achieving tangible results through direct engagement with the Federal government.

He also pointed out that unlike DAPSY’s external proposals, GPS has been negotiating policy changes and securing better resource management agreements within the legislative framework.

“If they truly stand with Sarawakians, let them prove it where it truly matters—inside Parliament, not just in the media,” Toh asserted.

“As Sarawak continues its push for greater autonomy over its natural resources, political leaders emphasise that real change requires sustained effort within official channels, not symbolic proposals.

“Sarawak is not on the brink of bankruptcy, as some claim, but rather, it is positioning itself for a stronger and more independent economic future.” – Dayak Daily
