KUCHING, Dec 10: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has hinted at the possibility that Sarawak could reach RM20 billion in revenue in 2025.
He said that in 2017, Sarawak’s income was only about RM5 billion to RM6 billion.
“In just seven years, Sarawak managed to allocate RM15 billion in its budget for 2025, and its income reached RM14 billion.
“I am not showing off, no. I want to show that Sarawak knows how to manage its economy. I think maybe we will reach up to RM20 billion next year,” he said when attending the Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak gala dinner last night (Dec 9).
He said that the revenue gained will be spent prudently by giving back to the people.
“We have our sovereign fund for our future. We will give out free education starting 2026 and we will also give Special Financial Aid or Bantuan Khas Kewangan (BKK) which is two months’ salary for all civil servants in Sarawak,” he added. — DayakDaily
