KUCHING, March 9: Sarawakian students who have taken National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) loans are advised to go online to check if they are eligible to receive Sarawak government assistance to repay their loans.
Assistant Minister of Education, Science and Technological Research Dr Annuar Rapaee encouraged Sarawakian students who have outstanding PTPTN loans to check their eligibility for the 30 per cent loan repayment online via
Semakan Insentif Bayaran Balik Pinjaman PTPTN Anak Sarawak.
Dr Annuar who is also the Nangka assemblyman during a livestream on social media today said Sarawak is the only state in Malaysia which is helping students to service 30 per cent of their PTPTN study loans.
For those who are not shortlisted, he encouraged them to make queries online as he believed these queries will be answered and entertained.
The Sarawak government in January announced that it will settle 30 per cent of outstanding PTPTN loans taken by 9,634 Sarawakian students.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said the Sarawak government through Yayasan Sarawak has held talks with PTPTN to determine the method of repayment for outstanding PTPTN loans.
He said the discussions between Yayasan Sarawak and PTPTN had been completed and there is a formula used by the Sarawak government to help students to resolve arrears with PTPTN through a RM30 million allocation. — DayakDaily
