Sarawakian takes over as new state CID chief

KUCHING, May 12: Local SAC Denis Leong Soon Kuai has officially taken office as the new state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief.

Leong replaces Datuk Dev Kumar, who received a promotion to become the deputy director (operations) of the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department at Bukit Aman.

In a ceremony at Sarawak Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) yesterday morning, Dev who will report for duty in Bukit Aman on May 14 said Sarawak was the best state he had worked in as Sarawakians are friendly and it is a very harmonious state.


“I would like to thank everyone for your support and cooperation throughout my term in Sarawak since July 1, 2015. Members of the media have been very helpful and supportive. If I have said or done anything wrong, please accept my sincere apology. I hope we will meet again in the near future,” Dev said.

Meanwhile, Leong said it is an honour to be back and serve his home state as the new CID chief.

“Thank you for giving me the trust to lead Sarawak CID. I also wish Dev all the best in his new posting,” Leong said. — DayakDaily
